A confession - I am just a little biddy-bit obsessed with the Rule of Three. If you don’t know what this is, then you’re in for a treat. And even if you do know what it is, then hopefully this will be a useful reminder, or a kick up the arse to incorporate the Rule of Three more effectively into your writing!

Think about cartoon panels, or a play structure, or triptychs, or the narrative idea of beginning, middle and end, or the way great orators structure their speeches, or advertising slogans, or the way a joke is often structured, or fairytales. What do they all (very often) have in common? Yes, the Rule of Three.

The Latin phrase omne trium perfectum means "everything that comes in threes is perfect"
