There’s been a lot of noise and debate about Artificial Intelligence and human creativity over the last couple of years.
This article isn’t going to go down the rabbit hole of the danger to writers of AI written books and stories. Though you can probably work out my stance when I tell you that I think of AI written books as a bleak blancmange of inevitability.
However, I am fascinated about whether some forms of AI, with their non-human and sometimes weirdly surreal perspective on the world, can be a useful tool for human creativity.
During one of my regular Positive Procrastination times (see the post link below), I stumbled on some AI photorealistic images that struck me as potentially really useful - and playful - writing prompts.
I’ve created a simple writing exercise based around this discovery. My writing group tried this out recently and we got some truly interesting results, as well as stories that have gone on to be published!
